What inspired you to become an associate principal?
I have always wanted to work with kids. My first job was as a babysitter as a teen, and I have always wanted to be a teacher. I also have two younger sisters, and I love them so much.
I also love collaborating with teachers to find new, innovative, and fantastic ways to help our awesome students thrive. It is incredible to see the students I have helped excel in an environment where the teachers have put in so much work to prepare our youth for success in education and life.
What is your favorite part about being the leader of Horizon School?
One of my favorite things about being the principal of Horizon is that I support many people. I not only get to work with an outstanding team of staffers, but I also get to interact with all of this school's learning and growth.
How do you stay connected with students, and how can students share their ideas with you?
The biggest thing I can do to stay connected is to be visible. I want all students to be able to talk to me and solve problems. I want to always be open to students and be the best principal I can be!
What is something special or unique about our school that you like?
I love how big the school community is. It helps everyone here (including staff members) learn from each other. There are so many people that I can reach out to for support and help. Pewaukee is such a big community with so many kind, supportive people.
What is one interesting fact about you that students might not know?
One interesting fact about me is that I really had a hard time in school. I had an amazing tutor who helped me understand reading, and she made me want to be a teacher.
Another interesting fact about me is I love to cook. I can whip up a lot of meals without recipes with my kids. I learned how to make sourdough bread, and now I make it for my family.
In what ways will you demonstrate and encourage the Compete Graduate Competency in your professional career at Horizon?
I will encourage COMPETE competency by inspiring learners to collaborate with peers and feed off of each other's learning. It is very important that we can benefit from each other's learning experiences and apply them to our lives so that they can positively affect our own learning journey.
