The Horizon Ticket Challenge

The Horizon ticket challenge is a school-wide activity in which students earn tickets to reach a goal and win a prize. When students get a ticket, they turn it in to the office. If the school community does not reach the goal at the end of the month, they do not get the monthly prize. Great news!  We met our goals for October, November, and December.

You earn tickets by doing the following:

  • Being quiet in the halls

  • Cleaning up at lunch

  • Helping someone at recess

  • Show respect to others

  • Listen to directions

  • Include others at recess

  • Be kind on the bus

  • Show good sportsmanship

  • Help a student or staff member

  • …and more.

We met with Mrs. Horvat, one of the creators of the ticket challenge, and learned more about how this idea came to be. She shared that she did a ticket challenge at her previous school and thought Horizon needed something to reward positive behavior and work towards a common goal. She hopes the ticket challenge will remind students the importance of working together and meeting expectations. The prizes are achievable, especially if everyone contributes to the monthly goal.
